A Sneaky Holiday
Today is Thanksgiving, and I have no idea how it got here so quickly. And Christmas is right around the corner. The spousal unit and I are simply too busy this year to do the normal holiday stuff, like entertain and cook. This one really snuck up on us (is "snuck" a word?). We usually have people over for a big meal, but today it's just going to be the two of us at home making pizzas. Yes, you read that correctly. We are making Thanksgiving pizzas. Tradition is not something I have trouble with fiddling with, so pizza on Thanksgiving? Why not. We both love pizza, and why cook a whole bunch of food for two people? Oh, and I have some mac & cheese in the freezer just in case the pizza doesn't work out. Always gotta have a back up plan.
Oh, and I got a new lap top by Fedex yesterday, so I get to spend the better part of the weekend getting it configured. A geek's idea of paradise, I must say. My old laptop probably has another year left in it, but this was the last chance that I had to get a lap top with XP. I've tried Vista, and I don't want to have a lap top with that on it. I had nothing but problems with it, so I am getting a new PC while I can still order XP as the operating system. Hopefully, Microsoft will get their act together by the time I need a new computer in a few years. Or by then I may switch to a Mac. Who knows.
I have recently discovered Facebook. What fun it is, connecting with people all over the place. But it's a little bit like school - how many friends can I collect so I don't feel like a social dweeb. But there are some interesting groups out there. On December 10th, there is an event called "A Day Without Gays" to raise awareness on how the GLBT community and its supporters impact our world. Its modeled after the "Day with a Mexican" done a while ago. Its an economic boycott at all levels by the GLBT community: don't go to work, don't spend money, don't go to school, don't open your businesses. Check it out at:

I find as I get older, I'm becoming more political. Maybe because I have more time to care, or I see the impact of the decisions that have been made by the politics of the past. But we have to make a stand for the fairness and equality. Now is the time.
